Many of you likely have heard of Glenn Murphy and Ronan Scolard.

They're currently two of the choir members in Celtic Woman.

Glenn is one of Mairead Carlin's close friends (and he was taking casual singing lessons from Eabha). Mairead Carlin's married to Ronan.

Glenn and Ronan stepped into the spotlight after they did a casual Adele medley. It was quite good and got a massive amount of attention online:

Apparently Adele caught wind of it and knew they were in the audience. When they went to her concert in Dublin on March 5, 2016, Adele surprised them by calling them up on stage. They got to meet Adele and sing their medley live in front of a huge audience at the 3Arena in Dublin. They were really surprised and excited, understandably.

That video generated a huge amount of attention online. They appeared as guests on the Ellen show on March 14th.

On March 14th, they returned to the stage with Celtic Woman on the Destiny tour and performed their Adele medley during the show. I believe this is the first time they performed it during Destiny. It was later announced the next day (March 18th) as a regular part of the North American leg of the Destiny tour going forward.

Here's a video from one of the performances on tour (Casino Rama in Canada, June 2016)

Glenn and Ronan released their debut single, Come Home, on iTunes in September, 2016:

They're currently working on an album, which I suspect will release later this year.

In the tradition of Celtic Woman, their harmony is pretty spectacular. This should be a great album.

Mini-Review of "Come Home" (Glenn & Ronan Debut Single):

The song is well-arranged. Both Glenn and Ronan have fantastic individual voices and in the great tradition of Celtic Woman, the harmony is very impressive and crystal clear. The contrast between their voices is used quite effectively. The piano arrangement compliments their voices nicely. The lyrics are fairly good and the tune itself is very pleasant.

This is every bit as good as a Celtic Woman song and I hope they put it in the Voices of Angels tour, because it's definitely worthy. I just hope I can get my tickets before crazed fans start rushing the theatre...

I honestly think this song has a chance to be a mainstream success if it gets the right attention and promotion. If it does become a mainstream hit, that's great news for them, but it will also draw the attention of millions of potential new fans to Celtic Woman.

Congrats Glenn & Ronan on your debut single. I'm eager for more!

Glenn and Ronan are preparing for their own shows in January.

There's a gap between the Home for Christmas tour and Voices of Angels (staring in March) for them to do their own thing.

I'm not sure of they'll be in the Home for Christmas tour. I assume they'll be back for Voices of Angels.

Glenn and Ronan are about to release their second single, All of the Stars

    Here's a teaser:

Sounds like this will be another great song. I believe Ronan's arranging the music for these. If so, I'm really impressed.

It debuts on the The Ray D'Arcy Show on RT1 on Saturday, November 12th.

The singing, including their impressive harmony, is both the emphasis and the highlight "All of the Stars."

On Spotify, there's 2 versions of "All of the Stars"
    • Acoustic
    • Radio Edit

With acoustic version, Ronan's piano arrangement is the focus of the instrumental backing. There's there's some some subtle string accompaniment as well that fills out the sound quick nicely. It's a more pure sound, as one might expect from an acoustic version.

The radio edit has a pop-style drum beat and the instrumental backing is far more prevalent than in the acoustic version. It gives the song a faster feel than the acoustic version and I suppose makes it more consumable to a general audience.

    They're both excellent versions!

Today, it was officially announced that Glenn & Ronan have signed with Liffey Records (apparently a sister label of Celtic Collections).

They started recording in the studio today and the album is scheduled to release in October 2017.

    Hello World (EP)

Glenn & Ronan had a surprise release of their EP Hello World.

The digital EP consists of 4 tracks, 3 of which were previously released singles.

    Tracks:
    1. Safe & Sound
    2. Loved & Lost
    3. All of the Stars - Radio Edit
    4. Come Home

The new track, Loved & Lost is pretty good! Some of the lyrics do more for me than others, but there are parts of the chorus in particular that really hit home for me, particularly some parts of the chorus. Like all of the songs on of the EP, it's got a great melody, very effective accompaniment and outstanding harmony.

There isn't any track on the EP I don't like. It's a tough call for my favourite song, but I'll go with Loved & Lost, although Come Home could easily be my favourite as well. In Loved & Lost, there are some overwhelmingly powerful moments, both in melody and message and that's what put it over the top for me.

This really is a great EP and if you haven't heard their music before, I'd highly recommend listening to them on Spotify or some other platform (or preview the tracks on iTunes or on some other retailer's site). The tunes and harmony alone are really lovely.

    I hope you enjoy!
